The new 2014 Toyota Prius Geologist Edition

TOYOTA CITY, Japan – The Toyota Motor Corporation announced today that it has released a special Prius Geologist Edition to the North American market, and dealers from coast-to-coast-to-coast are complaining that they cannot keep them in stock. That’s thanks in large part to the fact that 93% of geologists in North America own Priuses.

The Geologist Edition Prius has a number of  features that make it extra convenient for those in the geosciences, especially geologists. The base flow model of this special five-door Prius liftback will now be the core of the Prius lineup, and will undoubtedly be the best-selling member. With its upward coarsening tail, and understated wheel arches, this special edition model is sure to impress.

The 2014 model, which hit showrooms in the spring of 2013, are only available with a 6-speed authigenesis transmission with a locking front differentation.

It is equipped with a pothole avoidance system designed to help protect the 17 inch reaction rims from damage in the winter months. Mudflow flaps are optional, as are the mudstone offroad tires. Toyota will soon release a high performance version of the Prius Geologist Edition with a bioturbated 2.5 litre engine that increases power to a tire-shredding 45 horses.

The interior of the new Geologist special edition Prius features 60/40 rear flow folding seats and a two-tone horn. The exterior is available in Bauxite Blue, Glacier Grey, and Regolith Red.

Creature comforts designed specifically for geologists include the following (which are all standard on the special edition):

  1. Special bracket in the dash to hold a rock hammer
  2. Convenient hook in the headrest to hang a Tilley hat
  3. Handy area to stow those cool little backpacks
  4. A special compartment where the driver’s dignity can be stowed away neatly
  5. Handi-Park: a sophisticated system of undercarriage paint nozzles that paints a washaway handicap parking symbol underneath the car everytime it is parked for more than 5 minutes. The system also temporarily erects a handicapped parking sign in front of the car.
  6. OutCrop Detection (OCD) – a system that automatically and safely pulls the car over at all bedrock outcrops
Owners of the new Prius Geologist Edition will never have to worry about this happening thanks to Handi-Park.

The car’s immediate competition includes the Fjord Esker 5-door hatchback and the Suture Foreset Turbo.
